The science program of the Atlantica I Expeditions will investigate many varied aspects of the undersea environment, the science of living and working undersea for extended periods, the social interactions of the aquanaut teams as well as crew psychology.

The science program is organized into three tiers:

K-12 Classroom Science

University Student Science

Graduate and Post Graduate Peer Reviewed Investigations

Within these tiers are these discipline opportunities:

Oceanography – General
Oceanography – Physical
Oceanography – Marine Vertebrate Ecology
Oceanography – Marine Invertebrate Ecology
Oceanography – Estuarine Ecology
Oceanography – Estuarine Environment

Psychology – Individual Crew Profiling
Psychology – Crew Interactive Psychology

Physiology – Crew Physiology

Meteorology – Estuarine Interactions

Marine Engineering – Ocean Engineering Systems
Marine Engineering – Novel Deployment and Anchor Systems
Marine Engineering – Maintaining Manned
                               Undersea Habitat Systems In Situ
Marine Engineering – Phased Energy Interfaces
Marine Engineering – Undersea Communications

Logistics – Manned Undersea Re-supply

The Expeditions will integrate the Science Program into the Education program by several kinds of interfaces.  They are described in depth on the EXPEDITONS EDUCATION page.  They will include: classroom links, classroom curriculum development, deployed classroom experiments, student visits, student aquanaut program, visiting university student and graduate student program and integration of working scientists and their investigations as they work directly from the habitat.
